Hummer Performance
Over the last century, luxury and performance vehicles have rolled off assembly lines in astonishing numbers, loved by the enthusiasts and occasionally hated by environmentalists. The Hummer is no exception. After gaining widespread popularity with endorsements from public figures such as Arnold Schwarzenegger and their use in military conflicts since the Gulf War, Hummer performance became the gold standard for off-road sport utility vehicles.
Unfortunately, Hummer performance came at a cost: fuel economy. While the Hummer is capable of overcoming obstacles that would disable a standard vehicle, they also burn much more fuel per mile than even infamous gas guzzlers such as the Cadillac Escalade. It’s more than a cost issue; these vehicles can be incredibly tough on the global environment, pumping tons of greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere every year. In fact, that’s part of the reason that the Hummer line was discontinued in 2010. With the rising cost of fuel and the increasing awareness of global warming, sales had dropped to all-time lows at a time when GM was facing the consequences of an economic downturn.
Fortunately, even environmentalists can enjoy the unique experience of Hummer performance without damaging the environment or spending a fortune of fuel.
Introducing the Hummer Hybrid
After years of being demonized by the press, the Hummer finally got a much-needed makeover in 2009 when Utah Company Raser Technologies released a Hybrid Hummer that could get 100 miles to the gallon – without losing one iota of Hummer performance. Even Arnold Schwarzenegger, who stopped supporting the Hummer on environmentalist grounds, expressed interest in the development of fuel efficient Hummers.
Unfortunately, the Hybrid Hummer isn’t based on the H1 Alpha. To make the transition to hybrid status easier, Raser Technologies started with a Hummer H3, a smaller but only slightly less powerful version of the beloved Military-vehicle-gone-public. With a 260 horsepower engine and the same ground clearance, this new creation can boast Hummer performance with Jetta fuel economy – a combination that many once believed was too good to wish for.
A snapshot of Hummer Performance
Whether you’re driving the classic Hummer or decide to go with a fuel-efficient hybrid, you’re not going to be able to find a vehicle that can rival the Hummer in terms of performance. Take it Off-roading and you’ll quickly realize why this vehicle was so popular throughout the 90s and early 2000s. You’ll wonder how you got along without a Hummer performance SUV before.
To be clear, Hummer performance isn’t the only positive attribute of the Hummer H1, H2, and H3 vehicles. These vehicles are moving testaments to American engineering and military ingenuity. They represent the very qualities that we as Americans should strive to possess – stability, power, and flexibility. While Hummer Performance is what attract military veterans and public figures to purchase the vehicle in the first place, it is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the many benefits of owning a top quality American-made Hummer sport utility vehicle.
